Employee Spotlight: The Journey of Mike Albrecht

If you’ve spent any time around Scotchman Industries, you’ve likely crossed paths with Mike Albrecht, our National Sales Manager—and a man whose journey is every bit as hardworking and hands-on as the machines we build.

Mike grew up in Kansas, where he learned early on the value of practical experience. After high school, he joined a combine crew, a job that took him north into South Dakota. He didn’t know it then, but that move would eventually lead him to Scotchman and a career that would send him around the country—literally. Mike spent his early years here in outside sales, making loop after loop across the United States in our demo trucks. He visited every state, met fabricators in big cities and small towns, and watched firsthand how Scotchman machines helped shape shops of all sizes.

Today, as National Sales Manager, Mike oversees all sales, our representative network, and our nationwide dealer partners. His days are a constant hum of conversations—talking with reps, helping dealers, and handling whatever issues climb their way up from customer service. It’s busy, and it’s unpredictable, but to Mike, that’s part of the reward.

What he loves most is the people. He lights up when he talks about visiting customers, helping solve fabrication challenges, and seeing Scotchman’s impact in the real world.

“It’s extremely satisfying to see the presence Scotchman has in the industry,” he says. “In our segment, we are as well-known as Ford is to the car industry—and I love it.”

Mike’s leadership has been a driving force behind Scotchman’s continued growth. Especially over the last couple of years, his steady guidance and ability to bring people together have helped take Scotchman to the next level. He’s a true team player—always looking out for the best interest of the company and the people in it. In many ways, Mike is simply invaluable in his role. Scotchman wouldn’t be where we are today without his dedication, his work ethic, and the miles he’s put in both behind the wheel and behind the scenes.

The job hasn’t been without challenges. In the early years, the toughest part was time away from home. For nearly five years, Mike spent 40–50% of his time on the road. These days, the challenge is different—keeping dealers engaged, motivated, and focused on the Scotchman brand. But Mike approaches that task with the same energy and passion he brings to everything else.

Away from work, Mike is most at home outdoors. He loves hunting, fishing, and anything involving the ocean. Give him the chance, and he’ll be somewhere on a beach or by a honey hole with a fishing rod in hand. In fact, if he weren’t working at Scotchman, he says he’d simply “be doing a lot more fishing.” His computer background? A beach, of course. His dream vacation? A hunting and fishing trip to Alaska.

Mike is also a big sports guy and especially enjoys watching his grandkids—his favorite team is KU Basketball, though his grandkids may be giving them a run for the top spot. And on the road or at home, you’ll hear classic rock playing in the background as he drives his Ford pickup or perhaps in his combine working in the field.

If he ever won the lottery, the first thing he’d buy is a new boat. If he could choose a superpower, he’d take perfect memory. And if you're ever wondering whether he prefers pizza or tacos, beer or wine, dogs or cats—you won’t have to think long. He’s a pizza-eating, beer-drinking, dog-loving guy who’d choose a lifted Jeep over a muscle car any day.

Through all his travels, through the customers he’s helped and the relationships he’s built, Mike believes he’s already working his dream job.

“Helping manage a company of this size and getting to see a lot of the world along the way—it’s been incredible,” he says. “I have friends and contacts in almost every part of the country, and many overseas.”

And that’s Mike—dedicated, down-to-earth, loyal to his team, and committed to Scotchman’s success. A leader, a mentor, and an unwavering advocate for the brand. Scotchman is better because he’s here. Thanks for all you've done, Mike!!
