Built for Power and Precision: Custom Four-Hole Punch Tool for the FI125 Ironworker
At Scotchman Industries, custom tooling is all about helping fabricators work faster, cleaner, and more efficiently. This custom punch tool is a perfect example—engineered to deliver power, precision, and productivity on an FI125 ironworker.
Designed to punch four holes simultaneously in up to 3/8” mild steel, this tool maximizes output without sacrificing accuracy. The tool shown is punching 9/16” × 1-1/8” oval holes with a shear top punch, producing clean, consistent results while operating at maximum rated tonnage through 3/8” × 6” wide mild steel.
Key Design Features
-
Fixed 4” center-to-center hole layout
-
Individually adjustable die holders for precise alignment
-
Built to handle full tonnage demands of the FI125
-
Heavy-duty construction for long-term reliability
Flexibility was a major design focus. The punches can be rotated 90°, and the tool accommodates virtually any hole shape using standard #40 punches and #82 dies. For added versatility in material handling, the stripper assembly can be reoriented for left-to-right feeding, allowing the tool to adapt to different shop layouts and workflows.
A custom stop was added to the stripper plate to ensure consistent positioning and repeatable results. This feature can be customized based on the specific application, further improving efficiency and accuracy during production runs.
