Manufacturing is critically important to the American economy.

As many of our readers know, the manufacturing industry continues to be a major economic driver in the United States. Not to mention, the future of this industry relies on a skilled, talented workforce.

For these reasons and more, Manufacturing Day is needed to rally a growing and important mass movement. Read on to learn more about MFG Day happening on October 7, 2016!

The Mission of MFG Day

MFG DAY is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers. It addresses common misperceptions surrounding the industry by giving manufacturers an opportunity to open their doors and show exactly what modern manufacturing is, and what it is not.

By working together, manufacturers can address the skilled labor shortage they face, connect with future generations, take charge of the public’s perception of manufacturing, and ensure the ongoing prosperity of the industry as a whole.

One of the main goals of MFG Day has always been to get young people motivated to learn more about modern manufacturing. We know the millennial generation is uniquely qualified to enter the manufacturing industry and produce American made products. For more on that,  please click here, to stay up to date on our Millennials in Manufacturing blog series.

MFG DAY this year will once again empower manufacturers to come together and address their collective challenges, while energizing a future pipeline of skilled workers. All across the country, organizations will show the public what manufacturing really looks like through more than 2,600 open houses and events in each of the 50 states and Puerto Rico with an estimated 400,000+ students, parents, and community members attending.

Manufacturing Month at Scotchman Industries

October is Manufacturing Month, and of course your metal fabrication specialists at Scotchman are celebrating. Manufacturing Month will amplify the voice of individual manufacturers everywhere with common concerns, challenges, and goals for the future.

As an American manufacturer, Scotchman Industries embraces the idea of the younger generation pursuing manufacturing careers—we even created two scholarships as an extra incentive.

Manufacturing month empowers us to come together and address areas of concern and how to help communities and future generations thrive. We need manufacturing to continue to be a bedrock of strength for generations to come.
