Employee Spotlight - Alvin Pearson

Employee Spotlight: Alvin Pearson – 53 Years of Dedication

Some people leave a lasting impression on a company. Others help build its legacy. Alvin Pearson has done both.

As the longest-tenured employee in Scotchman Industries' 60-year history, Alvin has spent an incredible 53 years serving our dealers, customers, and teammates. From taking parts orders and troubleshooting machines to helping dealers find the right solutions, Alvin has become a trusted voice that many of our customers know by name.

Ask Alvin what his favorite part of the job is, and his answer is simple: helping people. There's nothing more rewarding to him than getting a customer back up and running after a machine goes down. It's that commitment to service—and genuine care for the people on the other end of the phone—that has made him such an important part of Scotchman for more than five decades.

Of course, even after 53 years, there are still challenges. Alvin laughs that keeping up with today's technology might be the toughest part of the job. "Technology has really changed in the last 53 years!" he says. But while computers have evolved, one thing hasn't—his willingness to learn, adapt, and continue helping others every single day.

When asked what professional accomplishment he's most proud of, Alvin doesn't hesitate: being here for 53 years. That's a milestone very few people ever reach, and it's a testament to his loyalty, work ethic, and passion for what he does.

Outside of work, Alvin enjoys spending time with his wife, four children, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Watching his grandkids and great grandkids compete in sports is one of his greatest joys. When he's not cheering them on, you'll likely find him in the garage tinkering with his prized 1970 Cadillac convertible, a restoration project that's also his dream ride and next big goal to complete.

If Alvin could meet anyone, it would be Ronald Reagan and Elvis Presley. He enjoys classic 1950s and country western movies, cheers for the Dallas Cowboys, dreams of spending more time at Elephant Butte, New Mexico, and if he ever won the lottery, his first purchase wouldn't be for himself—it would be taking his entire family on a vacation wherever they wanted to go.

And if he were king for a day? His wish says everything you need to know about his character: every homeless person would have a hot meal and a warm place to sleep.

When asked what his dream job would be, Alvin's answer may be the most telling of all: "Doing what I am doing now."

Scotchman Industries General Manager Brad Heltzel sums it up perfectly:

"I think it speaks volumes that Alvin has continued to work here for 53 years when he really has no need to work anymore. He loves his job and has stayed on for more than 10 years longer than anyone has ever asked of him. He is such an easy-going individual and has more knowledge of Scotchman Industries than maybe anyone else on the planet."

Alvin's knowledge, humility, and dedication have made him a cornerstone of Scotchman Industries. More importantly, his kindness, sense of humor, and willingness to help others have made him someone we're all fortunate to work alongside.

From everyone at Scotchman Industries—thank you, Alvin. Your 53 years of service, friendship, and commitment have helped shape who we are today. This place simply wouldn't be the same without you.
